Official Synopsis

Abby Lewis never pictured herself on the survival game show, Endurance Island. She’s just not the survival type. But when her boss offers her a spot on the show and the opportunity of a lifetime, she packs her bags and heads to the tropics to be a contestant. Once in the game, though, it’s clear that Abby’s in over her head.

No one’s more competitive than sexy, delicious and arrogant Dean Woodall. Sure, he’s clever, strong, good at challenges, and has a body that makes her mouth water. He also hates Abby just as much as she hates him. That’s fine with her; she’ll just ignore the jerk.

But the rules of Endurance Island are working against them. Abby and Dean are teamed up & alone on the beach. It’s either work together, or go home. Stuck with no one’s company but their own, they learn they might just make a good team after all. And Abby learns that with just a little bit of kindling, the flames of hate can quickly turn to flames of passion.

This book features enemies, lovers, enemies who become lovers, and lots and lots of tropical heat.

My Thoughts/Summary

I was in major need of palate cleanser books, which as I mentioned in previous posts, for me, tends to be romance-y books. I also have a real soft spot for books that take place on television shows, about fake television stars or whatever. I had posted during #AskALibrarian on Twitter that I was looking for books with a similar feel to “The Bachelor” which is one of my guilty pleasures, and this book was presented to me.

“Wicked Games” is not brilliant literature, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s a fun erotica romance-y romp through a Survivor like TV show. I think part of the reason I like reading these books is they are very cheesy at sometimes, and silly, and I don’t think that’s a bad thing. “Wicked Games” absolutely has those moments, but that’s why I liked it. Abby gets drawn into Endurance Island to write a story about it, and Dean is someone who takes the show seriously, and wants to win. You spend a lot of the book trying to get in Dean’s head and figure out if he is at the same point as Abby is.

I don’t feel like this book was too cliche, romance/erotica tends to play on a lot of cliche’s, which I actually like and find comforting. I absolutely enjoyed this book for what it was. Something short, based on a reality show, a romance novel that didn’t seem super Harlequin, but had a little bit of spice. I’m not sure if I’ll read the rest of the series, but I liked it overall, and may return when I need something easy.
