Reading in October 2017

Hi everyone! Here’s my summary for October.

In October 2017, I read

  • 11 Books
  • 3 Childhood Rereads
  • 1 Christian Non-Fiction
  • 1 Audiobook
  • Lost interest in

Books I finished:

“The Ragamuffin Gospel” by Brennan Manning

“Vampires in the Lemon Grove” by Karen Russell (review here)

“The Refrigerator Monologues” by Catherynne M. Valente (review here)

“Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology” by Leah Remini (review here)

“When Dimple Met Rishi” by Sandhya Menon

“Sammy Keyes and the Sisters of Mercy” by Wendelin van Draanen

“Texts from Jane Eyre: And Other Conversations with Your Favorite Literary Characters” by Malory Ortberg

“The Thousandth Floor” by Katharine McGee

“Claudia and Mean Janine” by Ann M. Martin

“Shadow and Bone” by Leigh Bardugo

“Allegedly” by Tiffany D. Jackson

“Exit, Pursued by a Bear” by E.K. Johnston

“As You Wish” by Chelsea Sedoti

“Three Dark Crowns” by Kendare Blake

Books Read for a Book Club: I read “Vampires in the Lemon Grove” for my Reading Glasses Postal Book Club, and DNF’d “My Best Friend’s Exorcism”. I don’t do demon books. I also attempted “A Canticle for Leibowitz” but I just…couldn’t get into it.

Books Acquired this Month: Too dang many.

Audiobooks Listened to this Month: 1 “Troublemaker” by Leah Remini (it was read by her too which was cool!)

Books I lost interest in:

  • “A Canticle for Leibowitz” by Walter M. Miller Jr.

Best book of the month: “Saint Death” by Marcus Sedgwick

Worst book of the month: Maybe “My Best Friend’s Exorcism” just because I really don’t do demon books.

  1. Omg I can’t believe how many books you read in October. Also, if it makes you feel better, I didn’t think My Best Friend’s Exorcism was that good. It wasn’t terrible, but it was pretty meh imo! And super disturbing at times.

    1. I have a real hard no on anything demonic for personal reasons, so I gave it a shot but I just couldn’t do it. ALSO I tried this thing where I read one chapter a day of a bunch of books for a month and it allowed me to read SO MUCH MORE and weed through some of that TBR.
