This is the world. It is not the one we wanted, but it is the one we deserved. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse roam the Earth, signaling the End Times for humanity, and our best hope for life, lies in Death.
This is yet another comic that came highly recommended on Comixology Unlimited. I’d heard really good things, although the last Jonathan Hickman trade that I attempted fell extremely flat for me. I wasn’t even sure what exactly this comic was about, but when my library had a physical copy, I decided to give it an all out effort.
This comic is gory. There is lots of fighting, and guts, and violence and just all sorts of stuff I don’t typically enjoy. Somehow though, I pushed through. East of West follows a world where the Horsemen of the Apocalypse roam the world, except as a trio, because Death has gone rogue.
East of West has a very dystopian and yet western world, which took me a little bit to get into. I found the comic actually quite interesting, and the stories and world that was built in this comic was actually done very well and I found myself engrossed. However, I can only take so much of that level of violence at a time so I think I’m going to be stopping here, but if that is your style, or something that isn’t hard for you to read, check this out for sure.
